Layout Progress circa 2000

The turn of the century saw great progress on the layout, with the addition of the upper level mainline and trains operating from upper to lower staging (although having to contend with plaster, glue, tools across the tracks and scenicking materials en route!).

Williams Loop with mainline track installed, and operational. Above, a long Westbound circles under itself at the Loop.

I think it was this train that caused us to install plastic sheeting under the second level to catch falling rolling stock!

I built a shelf and desk unit to store my magazines and collector cars, as well as give me a place to build models. The desk actually folds down when not in use, to maintain aisle width during layout construction and operations.
